This was a line in a classic novel. The dialogue of two boys, watching hora dancers and trying to look under the girls' skirts.
When I was twelve this exchange seemed to me true, daring and erotic, almost pornographic.
Two, three years later I saw a documentary on Carnival in Cuba. The sweaty dancers seemd to me the most beautiful women on earth.
Now at Lincoln Plaza only the music still transports me.
