perdu
I had dinner yesterday with a Frenchman and barely could find my words in French. Tired and without practice. Used to be so proud of my French
J'ai perdu jusqu'à la fierté
Qui faisait croire à mon génie

Pro veritas -rover baron's roveries
Treasure trove of raving Rove's e-mails and a letter over overt operative. Proverbial treason trove. It drove Rove under cover. Later when he sobered the grave Rove found his groove and tried to prove these were overtures -provertures - to the press with nothing rovealed.

watching the cuban bolero dancers
-Vazusi
-vazui
This was a line in a classic novel. The dialogue of two boys, watching hora dancers and trying to look under the girls' skirts.
When I was twelve this exchange seemed to me true, daring and erotic, almost pornographic.
Two, three years later I saw a documentary on Carnival in Cuba. The sweaty dancers seemd to me the most beautiful women on earth.
Now at Lincoln Plaza only the music still transports me.

blitz?
I wanted to comment on the inappropriateness of NYPost's yesterday BLITZ cover re: London explosions. I couldn't link to the article because the POST charges a fee for its older articles. This is a paper that sells for 25 cents. The price of an Augenblick

Prophets flourished only in the desert
Where nobody could hear them.. Words were attributed to them. Retroactively. To redeem their foolish self imposed exile.
To be a prophet in the information age requires new kind of tricks. Or a new kind of god.

showboat
Always interested in stories of exile. Planned to see Caravanserail. Found out tickets cost $100. To comfort those who can afford.
