paradise

Paradise Island. Sunday afternoon. Empty beach. Nobody in the water. Sunny, cold and no waves- a sad sandy desert. The only open joint offers orange juice to lengthen your life by one minute. Everything else is deep fried. I am drawn to the only place that seems animated. Someone things accompanied by some version of orchestral karaoke. Sinatra of course. The boardwalk in front the counter is full. Beer drinking over sixty-five hot gals and guys. Dancing and gesticulating. Happy and requesting songs from the fifties or beyond...
What age do people have in Paradise. The age they died at??

a kingdom for a bone

I am an honest blogger. Never got a bone and nobody reads me.

three cards

I think Krugman is not reading the Maestro right. It is long since Greenspan has sided with the bully in power. He clearly allowed the nineties stock market bubble to develop....My reading is that after so many years in economics, Greenspan knows that nothing really matters. Greenspan is not failing the truths of his profession since by now he knows there is no profession...

Bricks and Brownstone

This is New York I like most. But then I remember my first day in America, in Baltimore Greyhound station. I was scared by the ugliness and uniformity of what now I realize were brownstones. At that time I had in mind A Taste of Honey and all the sad angry British movies of the 60s. And coming to New York to Rego Park the following week...I annoyed my guest saying it was absolutely ugly.

poker for the retarded

There are now poker shows on mainstream TV. How about that not being indecent. Is a naked breast more indecent than a guy losing half a mil on a bet? And on top of everything this type of poker is for the retarded. And what about stupidity? Isn't it indecent to exhibit stupidity?

inheritance

Klein does not see deep enough. The driving idea behind the social security private accounts is not about cutting benefits. It is about removing the "social" out. The benefits are no more the responsibility of the society but of the individual. The private account is to be inherited. What this presidents understands is the right to inherit. Didn't he cut inheritance taxes? Him who inherited his place in college, in business...

Bankrupt policy

People in the millions cannot pay medical bills...Has this anything to do with malpractice suits against doctors? Of course not.

remember these pages?

An article on memory is circulating the weblogworld. My own question is Who can follow such a stuffy article reading from a computer terminal? Who remembers the first paragraphs when reaching the middle of the article? How is it that my synapses do not fire to make the neuron in turn fire neural impulses to reinforce ....?

I had last month a blog called cartographer of catastrophy and today I discovered there was a recent book Cartographies of Danger. Did it register in my memory? without me being aware?

gridlock engineer

On public radio, an expert was raving about how adequate is the street grid in NYC for automobile traffic. Only when Broadway breaks the pattern....
The cars stopped in intersections create gridlocks. This expert was Sam Schwartz who had coined the word.
This is my dream too. To coin a word in English. Oh greedlock..
